Not just a blog, it's a virtual classroom!

PHP Blog Manager, the new blogging tool that gives us this fabulous customized look, has just upgraded the user control panel to include a live chat room!
What a cool idea!

Each blog account manager may add users, assign passwords and permissions, etc. allowing others to participate and post in the blog at their discretion. Now all of the members in a blog group can meet inside their blogging accounts via the Group Chat feature.

The feature is still in the beta stages, with lots of promising updates soon to be added in - but even in this early phase it provides a quick and easy way to generate ideas as a group, have meetings, and even run a virtual classroom.

You can check out the feature by registering for an account here.

Blogs Hit Broadway's Fringe

In Edinburgh this week a fringe theater festival debuts an entirely new genre of stage performance, plays based on blogs.

There are a total of four pieces inspired by the blogosphere being presented at this year's festival, including: Oliver Mann's play "Bloggers - Real Internet Diaries" - said to be an 'anthology' of blog voices.
From a review in The Guardian:
"At its best, 'Bloggers' is light-hearted, character-based fun, giving us a selection of confused souls on voyages of self-discovery. Mann has unearthed the people you couldn't make up, such as the 40-year-old agoraphobic virgin manning a sex chatline. A heart-warming honesty emerges in each of its voices - even those hiding behind their online bravado, such as the teenager who casually refers to a funeral as 'a depression session', or the sexual adventurer who accidentally admits to enjoying a cuddle."

It was really only a matter of time before performance art imitated life; and now blogs have become the newest wave of live entertainment with the already-famous Baghdad Burning also adapted for stage and presented at the festival.
"Girl Blog" is a "moving and thought-provoking production. The hijackings, bombings and murders that flash across our news screens as statistics become painfully immediate." writes Emma John of The Guardian.
