Say what you mean, mean what you say

It's no secret, bloggers are an opinionated bunch. It's in their very nature to develop and articulate opinion - right wing, left wing, no wings at all....from expressions of social norm to complete anarchy - the bloggers at Bloggapedia are no exception. The great thing about blogs is the author can not only opine to his or her heart's content but visitors can contribute to the conversation, whether they agree or disagree, via the comments feature.

Here are just a few of the most opinionated bloggers listed in our directory, check them out, comment - keep those conversations going:

Bookslut Blog: a sometimes sweet, sometimes salty blog for those who love to read.

Opinionated Bastard: The name speaks for itself, don't you think?

Skippy the Bush Kangaroo: Everyone loves a good politics discussion with a marsupial...

Velvet Hammer: A girl with a velvet hammer and some "ironic surrealism."

Plastic: "Recycling the web in real time."

SistersTalk: Gay blogging on pop culture, politics, current events, sexuality, and The L Word.

PoliBlog: A professor, a dad, one opinionated man.

Virushead: An academic, a mom, one opinionated lady.

And hey, this is the short list, if you think your blog should be listed along with this post as one of Bloggapedia's most opinionated, please feel free to leave a comment with your URL!

One more thing, just for the record: our providing featured blog post links to the above blogs does not in any way imply affiliation or agreement with any one particular opinion or viewpoint. In fact, we appreciate them all simply because that's the whole point of a little thing called 'freedom of speech.' That's why you'll find over 6,300 blogs (and counting) in our directory - each and every one of a divergent viewpoint.

How much is your blog worth?

Your blog is likely a labor of love, and therefore priceless by any standard - however, one guy developed a fun little tool that can help you calculate the value of your blog in actual good old fashioned currency, cash money...

Simply enter your blog's URL and the code does the rest - using a 'link to dollar ratio' comparative to the AOL, Weblogs Inc. deal - or something like that. Apparently it's based on the number of incoming links to your site (but only those that Technorati is aware of) So keep in mind, if you, like Bloggapedia, have been slow to jump on the Technorati bandwagon your 'value' will be completely misconstrued and the resulting total appraisal could well end up hurting your feelings.

Bloggapedia has well over 5,000 backlinks according to Google (but we all know how slow they are to update these things....) and then there's our nearly 48,000 backlinks according to Yahoo! - we think they should rewrite that little applet to consider those too...

In any case, you can easily publish the result on your own blog or website, as we've done here (we've added our own little 'disclaimer' to the text inside the box to make it very very clear where this dollar amount comes from - anyway, if you're big on Technorati we suppose your blog will have a relatively higher implied value):

Bloggapedia Blog is worth (according to Technorati) $564.54.

Introducing...Django's Pug Blog

pug blogThis handsome fellow pictured to the left is Django; a young Dutch Pug who lives by the motto 'Everything is edible, until I have proven otherwise.' Django boasts not only a healthy appetite and good looks but the amazing ability to blog! (It's actually his owner who started the blog in the summer of 2006 'just for fun' but the blog is authored from the little guy's perspective.)

Django and his owner use his blog as a place to meet other Pugs and Pug owners, as well as a way for Django to announce news or events, such as the monthly Pug photo contest (which he certainly would win for good looks alone were there not pesky rules and regulations about this sort of thing...)

The Pug Blog welcomes all Pugs, their owners, fans, those bearing dog treats, etc.

Introducing...The Web Development Blog

web_dev_blogThe Web Development Blog is authored by PHP programmer/web developer Olaf Lederer.

Lederer started the blog in August 2006 in order to have a public forum for announcements of new versions of his PHP classes. It has also allowed him to further explore his web development ideas, delve into programming industry news, and get his programming tutorials online for other webmasters to access. The blog also includes reviews on various software, PHP scripts, and advertising services.

The blog welcomes comments from seasoned programmers as well as beginners.
