Author Kalsoom started the CHUP-Changing Up Pakistan blog three months ago with the goal of raising awareness and providing insight into the political and social issues affecting Pakistan's people. With daily news briefs and analysis, interviews with prominent figures and contributions by young Pakistanis the blog aims to foster this generation's voice and provides a platform for them to have their opinions heard and published. Kalsoom says she began the blog soon after former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in December 2007; in an attempt to try to overcome apathy among Pakistan's youth toward the issues facing the country.

As a trained analyst with Bachelors and Masters degrees in International Affairs Kalsoom calls the blog her "attempt to apply my capabilities as well as my passion for my country to this website to make it as objective, succint, and fair as possible."
